Orchid Thief

I love the pinks in orchids - there is something earthy and odd about these tones, especially the flowers with a hint of mauve about them.
Traditionally, orchil is a dye pigment that has been prepared from lichens - magical hues! I once managed to extract a sort of orchil from some local lichens that I picked up (operative word being picked up - these organisms take way too long to materialise, and many are protected in the wild....but .... if you know where to look at the base of rock walls and cliffs you can find lichen dislodged by the weather or baboons). What follows is a protracted fermentation process with ammonia (it really does take months)...but I can say that the glow and depth from lichen dye is something else.
Orchid Thief is a little nod to these colours, and that of the orchid family. It is a semi-solid/ lightly variegated colourway that pairs well with neutrals.
Please take care with this colourway: It is a very saturated colour! Avoid prolonged soaking if using with lighter colours; and only use cold water.
Care Instructions: For long term fibre and colour care a gentle, PH neutral detergent (preferably natural/organic) and cold water rinse is recommended. Refrain from excessive wringing. Dry flat, avoiding prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight.
